Support to improving operational and maintenance procedures and promoting safety management at the NPPs of NNEGC “Energoatom'' (Ukraine); Enhancement of Nuclear Safety by extending the understanding of the influence of human factors

This project is aimed at supporting NNEGC Energoatom (both at Company and NPP level) in developing a comprehensive system for collection and analysis of NPP events  and ‘near misses’ (“non-developed” events) including errors of NPP operating, maintenance and technical support personnel.
With the analysis of event root causes, a strategy for the elimination or reduction of human error induced events and occurrences will be produced. The event data collected will have to be classified into ‘event types’ and processed in a form be suitable for reporting to ‘multi-users’, including the NNEGC Energoatom HQ and the nuclear regulator (SNRIU). Furthermore it is recognised that managerial behaviours will impact the success of the project and the Contractor will be required to assist in creating a positive ‘managerial environment’ in senior staff, including 'learning culture' and ‘blame free’ culture.

The pilot plant will be South Ukraine and the project will build upon the basis of a ‘near miss’ system established under the Tacis On-Site-Assistance Programme.
