Disposal concepts for radioactive waste in Ukraine (U4.01.09-B)

The scope of the contract is to propose and develop a generic conceptual repository design, a generic safety assessment and preliminary waste acceptance criteria for all major radioactive waste types in Ukraine, including vitrified high-level radioactive waste (HLW), spent fuel that will not be reprocessed, long-lived intermediate-level radioactive waste (ILW), long-lived low-level radioactive waste (LLW), disused sealed sources, uranium mining and milling waste, very low-level radioactive waste (VLLW) (on the assumption that this waste category will be included in the new waste classification scheme). The purpose of the contract is also to justify the proposed conceptual designs on the basis of adequate radiological safety for the environment/future human generations and cost-effectiveness
